Saffron export rises by 85 percent in Q1

According to Iranian Customs statistics of foreign trade, during the first quarter of current Iranian year more than 56 tones of any kinds of saffron worth $77.401 million were exported abroad.

The statistics show that each gram of the exported saffron worth $1.37 during the period, compared to the same period last year which was 36 tons worth $47.758 million.
The exports of saffron in the first quarter of this year grew by 55% and 58% in weight and value respectively compared with the year before.
Iran is the world’s biggest saffron producer and accounts for more than 93% of the global production. Close to 95% of the Iranian saffron are grown in the two provinces of South Khorasan and Khorasan Razavi in northeastern Iran.
